We are now lookng to take on a Editor to join our team to assist teams in the implementation of tactical elements of client medical education programmes.

Responsibilities

Key objective

Provide quality assurance, ensuring that all content is accurate, effective and error free.

Role responsibilities

  • Copy edit, proofread and style all output from Writing/Med Comms Team: materials include abstracts, manuscripts, internal and external training decks, objection handlers, etc.
  • Data check, fact check and cross check copy and figures
  • Edit references according to brand/publication specific style (manually or through referencing platforms such as Mendeley/EndNote)
  • Track progress of projects, providing internal and external updates where necessary
  • Input/typeset/format PowerPoint slides when necessary
  • Create and maintain style guides for specific brands
  • Liaise with other Editors to optimally manage workload across the division
  • Undertake basic information searches
  • Writing projects where appropriate, e.g., biographies, minutes, correspondence etc.
  • Perform or assist others in the role of publication co-ordinator where necessary (where publication planning is an element of the client’s medical education programme). This may involve some or all of the following responsibilities:
    • Create dummy submissions to guide the process of submitting manuscripts/abstracts onto target journal/congress portals
    • Provide QC on journal/congress submissions
    • Flag issues proactively, inform/drive team re impending deadlines (abstract due dates, author/client comments due, etc.), proactively chase comments etc.

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong copy-editing skills (grammar, style considerations – familiar with in-house style and client product style preferences)
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Publishing background; experience editing/styling manuscripts and abstracts for journal/congress submission
    • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
    • Capable of multitasking and prioritising tasks
    • Excellent word-processing skills
    • Proficiency in the use of common computer software (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and willingness to learn about new systems/other software (e.g. Mendeley, EndNote, Access, online search facilities, Internet and other databases)
    • Willingness to perform a variety of tasks – from simple administrative tasks to more complex projects
    • Excellent communication skills – comfortable talking to and liaising with teams on a day-to-day basis
    • Must have previous communications agency or healthcare company experience
